Rethinking the bike rack, fixing many inconvenience the standard ones have.
What we achieved is a bike rack that let you lay your bike both from the saddle and the handlebars. The beneficts? Adjacent bikes don't get stuck, more bikes per rack, bikes' wheels won't be damaged, disk brake bikes fit with no issue, users don't need to lay down to their knees to lock the bike.
We tested an 1:1 prototype of our product, made of iron (with a momentary wood stand) using a MoBike for testing the strength and ease of use. No issue detected.
Autodesk Inventor is the Cad/Cam program we used to prototype and make load simulations. We applied loads well above the weight of a standard bike, with optimal result in Von Mises and stress test.
The final product would be made from iron pipes, economical and easy to produce, bended and welded and then treated with a special paint which protects iron from environment corrosion.
